Talk:Toluene

I'm not after a scrap over the use of Fenton's reagent to destroy Toluene, but this sounds like supposition to me. The process, IIRC, produces a lot of oxygen rich gas which would carry off toluene vapour. Not great for people to use inside and a fire hazard. A bigger problem for me is that Toluene dissolves in water very badly, so while this may be facile for treating contaminated waste water it sounds very inefficient for bulk disposal.Marvin (talk) 13:03, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, I think I should have added more details, instead of just "when in doubt, use Fenton's", especially when there might be undesired side effects during the neutralization. A few articles, like this one, mention the neutralization of toluene, with the help of UV light, and toluene is not added in bulk. I think a bit more info regarding the ups and downs of the neutralization techniques, as well as places where you can perform the neutralization should be added and expanded.Mabus (talk) 17:19, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
