An agar plate is a Petri dish containing a solid growth medium, typically agar plus nutrients, used to culture small organisms such as microorganisms or fungi. While other containers can be used, the Petri dish is simple to use.

General
An agar plate is a Petri dish, often made of plastic like polystyrene, PE, or glass, with a thin agar film.
Availability
Agar plates can be bought from lab suppliers.
DIY agar plate
Take a Petri dish or a similar container, and sterilize it properly. Make a solution of agar, again, sterile and pour it in the flat dish. Wait for it to cool.
