Paperware or paper ware is the term used for all lab materials/items made of paper or cellulose used in lab processes.

Items like lab notebooks or chemistry books are not included in this category.

General

Most paper items tend to be filters and membranes. Paperware items are often single use.

Below there's a list of various paper or cellulose lab items encountered in the chemistry lab, that are useful for the average amateur chemist. Obviously you will not need them all, but having a few filter papers and pH paper strips are often necessary when doing lab work.

Important paperware

Cotton

Cotton is a cheap and readily accessible filtering material.

Extraction thimble

Test-tube-like cellulose item, used in Soxhlet extractor, to extract compounds from powders or granules.

Filter paper

Paper filters are commonly used for filtering solutions.

Hydrophobic membranes are used to separate organic solutions from water.

pH paper strip

Used for testing the pH of various solutions.

Other

Adhesive paper

Useful for sticking notes on many things or making reagent labels.

Paper towel

Useful when cleaning lab equipment or just for general cleaning. Can also be used as crude filter paper.

Seed germination test paper

Used when growing plants.

Stopper

Cellulose fiber stoppers are often used in microbiology and tissue culture. They are air permeable, autoclavable up to 200 °C and will filter bacteria.
