A rubber policeman (or just policeman) is a hand-held flexible natural-rubber scraper, used in labs during gravimetric analysis, where delicate and precise weighting is required.

General

The common type of policeman consist of a scalpel-like rubber scraper, with a hollow tube which allows it to be attached to a glass rod.

Plastic policemen are very similar in construction to plastic spatulas, though the policemen have more fine edges. Metal versions are indistinguishable from microspatulas.

Availability

Rubber policemen can be bought from lab suppliers or online.
