Sodium nitroprusside or SNP is a chemical compound, often encountered as dihydrate. It is sold under the brand name Nitropress among others as a medication used to lower blood pressure.

Sodium nitropruside decomposes to sodium ferrous ferrocyanide, sodium ferrocyanide, nitric oxide, and cyanogen at about 450 °C.

It decomposes in aqueous acid to liberate hydrogen cyanide (HCN).
