Group buys for anhydrous AlCl3, dibromomethane, n-bromobutane, TEMPO

I ended up having a package returned to the sender since the arrangements I made for delivery fell through. I got charged a 25% restocking fee, which they said they'd waive if I placed the order again later, so I've been considering it.

TEMPO is $200 for 500g, which is cheaper than I've seen it anywhere else. I just don't need anywhere near that much. It's separate from everything else though, and optional.

For the other reagents, (AlCl3, CH2Br2, BuBr) I can do $15/100g or $30/250g plus shipping. I don't believe I'd be able to ship outside the US. I can make the purchase if I can resell at least $150 worth of this order.

Anyone interested?

I'd be interested but unfortunately I'm not in the US.

That is a good price for TEMPO... I'm going to have to think about it....

Very interested. U2U will be sent momentarily.

Also interested, U2U sent.

I looked into it a little more, and I should be able to send TEMPO via international mail. It's not particularly hazardous, and the quantities would be small enough to not incur very high shipping fees. Seeing as I also have more TBAB than I expect to ever use, I can probably offer any interested parties outside the US two organic catalysts at once.

I just noticed that they have di-n-butyl ether for like $30/liter not counting shipping. It's more hydrophobic than diethyl ether, boils at 140°C, and works as a Grignard solvent. I'm surprised it's not more common. Anyone have experience to know how well it works as a solvent for Grignard reactions?

I guess I'll put in the order for TEMPO now. Prices:

25g TEMPO, 25g TBAB to US address: $30
25g TEMPO, 25g TBAB to Europe/Canada/UK address: $40
50g TEMPO to US address: $40 for first 50g, $30 for each additional 50g
Message me for shipping rates to other countries.

Since these are catalysts that you barely need to use any of, I'd expect that amount to last for quite a while. It'll certainly be fun to see some of the reactions that this would help with. :)

I'd definitely take up the 25g TEMPO + 25g TBAB offer.

Re di-n-butyl ether: I don't have any experience using it as a grignard solvent but I did produce some as a side product in an esterification a while ago. It smells pretty bad IMO....

U2U sent

Di-n-butyl ether sounds interesting. Let me know if you are going in on some of it.

I would probably also be interested in DBM and n-bromobutane.

I'll come back to that order later, once I arrange for somewhere to have 50 pounds of hazardous materials delivered. I might be able to swing it, but not until the end of November or the beginning of December. In the meantime, I think I'll start a new thread for the TEMPO/TBAB deal.
