You can try chlorinating 2-methylphenol (aka o-cresol). This will produce a mixture of the 4-chloro and 6-chloro products, which should be separable.
But why not just buy MCPA? It's widely available as an herbicide.CuReUS - 10-11-2018 at 08:00
