Hi guys! I'm trying to nitrate Toluene to mono-Nitrotoluene for synthesis of Toluidine.
C7H8 + HNO3 + H2SO4 -> nitrotoluene
How do I figure out how much nitric acid/sulfuic acid to make this a proper mixed acid solution for... say 100g of toluene?
Thanks for the help! Just trying to get a better grip on my stoich! Cheers!

Hey glad to hear you're interested in learning more about stoich, but some reactions are simply more nuanced than A + B -> C + D. Nitrations happen
to be one of them, and especially if you want to be selective to produce mono-nitrotoluene then reaction conditions, such as proportions or
temperatures, are really important. Therefore, I recommend you looking up a dedicated well-established procedure for this is a must. Additionally, you
need to watch out for runaway reaction, so do not scale up any preparations you see online without adequate knowledge.

Research TnT production, as the three stage method all starts at Mono Nitro Toluene.
