Hempel columns

Hello, first post :)
What is "Better" a 600 mm column with 45/50 joints,
or a 900 mm with 29/42 joints?
Is Are there any disadvantages to adapting the 45/50 down to 24/40 or 29/42?
Thanks,
CS

I'm gonna have to recuse myself from this question.
SWIM= Squirrel Who Isn't Me.

This is a good place for advice and Ideas though.
Glad you found it. I was intending to mention it.
The glass ships tomorrow;)

My guess is that longer is better, all things being equal. (I had an organic chemistry professor who's favorite expression was: This reacts (with that) to give (product), all thinks being equal; but they seldom are. I think that if I had chosen him for a thesis adviser, I would have finished by PhD...oh well).
As for as using adapters to reduce the joint size, I think as long as you don't run your distillation at a rate so high as to flood the column, you will be OK.
