So what actually are not allowed in whimsy?

So what actually are not allowed in whimsy, other than politics?

elementcollector1 - 12-10-2019 at 13:54

Things that are outside the radius of the Earth-Sun system.

More seriously, in my experience, it's pretty much 'anything goes' so long as the topic is discussable (more than a one-off statement).

Any post that would better be posted in another discussion topic. For example, this thread would better go into Forum Matters.

If you are asking about the whimsy thread I recently closed, The reason was made clear.

I am not going to define a rule because that invites loopholing.

Polite, thought-provoking, witty, encouraging or otherwise positive will always be viewed favourably.

Being a jerk, maligning others, trolling, falsehood,needless argumentativeness: the tolerance for these will be lower.

I have no desire to be a censor. And that is not how this board works anyway. But anything that makes others disinclined to contribute good science is undesirable.

No, not only about Yttrium, but also for general references.

@fusso
I thought I had answered the question. Which bit are you confused about?
According to the header, Whimsy is for "Everything under the sun". So there is no limit on topics. Just don't be a jerk.

I like to answer Yttrium's most silly question way, way more than ignoring fusso's ignorance.

Fusso, don't make a fuzz of this ;)
Any subject is suitable, and common sense will help you (and nearly all other people) to understand what things offend other people. Just don't be offensive, respect each other's point of view, display such respect in your posts.
