What is this red and yellow compound?

So some of my lant post i was trying to find a way purify ammonium nitrate fertiliser but had no luck so far so i tried to convert it to sodium nitrate by adding NaOH into it. Got a lot of ammonia and a precipitate (NaNO3) but when i tried to burn it with aluminium to make flash powder it gave me a red and yellow with a sponge type structure and the worst part is that it prevented some of the mix from burning.
i don't know what it is so can anybody help me identifying it?
Thanks in andvance.

I'm pretty sure its Al. I bought it from a paint store and have used it for making flash powder with KMnO4 before and it worked great.
