Monoammonium Phosphate OTC

I see at this time of year (in the US), toy retailers are selling crystal growing kits as a STEM activity. The salt used for growing the crystals is monoammonium phosphate, (NH4)(H2PO4). The kits range from about $8 to $15 in price, with the $15 ones containing as much half a pound of this chemical.

Seems this should be a convenient source for someone looking for a phosphate salt. It can also be decomposed fairly readily to phosphoric acid (above 200 degrees C), though this would likely require distillation apparatus and a fume hood.

probably it can be bought cheaper as a fertilizer.

i'm actually trying to get a few kg of it from a dry powder fire extinguisher (ABC powder)
