How to get a glue from floor

Bedlasky - 9-10-2020 at 19:43

Hi.

Rug in my bathroom got sticked to the tile floor. Glue which held rug together just somehow get on the floor and stick rug in to it. I removed rug and remove little bit of glue and rest pieces of rug using acetone and ethyl acetate. Bathroom doesn't have a window so entire flat smelling like nail polish remover. So using organic solvents isn't an good option. Besides that - the amount of glue is very high, so it will needs few liters of solvent to remove it. Hot water and spatula also didn't work very well.

Is there any way (ideally not much smelly) how to remove the glue from the floor?

Heat gun and paint scraper, switch to solvent (MEK would be my first try) and paint scraper once the bulk of it is gone.

You can freeze the glue with dry ice and scrape it off with a scraper or just buy commercially available glue remover.

Be careful that the hot air gun doesn't set the solvent residue on fire.

I used MEK to remove stubborn sticker residue from glass and glue residue from flooring ... it works, and it stinks.
