Unusual gasket material

Ended up with several of these gaskets. Assumed they were lead they are quite thin.
Crushed one up and hit it with a propane flame, took to red heat...no change ..as you can see in the photo.
Any ideas? I dont think i can measure the volume accurately so getting a density is out.

Maybe it is some form of flexible graphite, possibly metal reinforced.
