What's the difference between http://www.sciencemadness.org/talk and http://www.sciencemadness.org/whisper?

I had a similar question and I think the difference is between http & https (whisper). You have SSL security with the HTTPS/whisper and on the other, you don't.

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I also found out that my browser handles the same URL differently between http/https. My browser doesn't handle the logins as the same, and I need to log in seperately to each version.

Secure and not so secure

I always use the /whisper version since it is more secure.

To be honest, having non HTTPS access is really outdated.
I am guessing it has something to do with the age of the forum software.

It would however be much better redirecting all traffic over SSL.
Especially for users that lack the technical understanding of plain HTTP and the risk involved.
Considering some authorities might have problems with certain topics here it would be best to have it all encrypted.
They would have knowledge of users visiting the website but not which material is accessed or posted.
