So I have a hydrazine group on my molecule and I wanted to turn it into a hydrazone so I boiled in some MEK and according to LCMS the product
increased MW by 1. I thought the hydrazone would weigh one less not one more than the hydrazine. I mean they both have 2 nitrogens and 2 hydrogens but
one has the double bond and the other does not??? Is this not a correct understanding? And just to be clear there is no way a lone hydrogen could have
been added to the molecule anywhere else on it. Thank you for any response.

It should actually be increasing by a lot more than 1 if you’re forming the MEK hydrazone. What is your starting material?
