I'm looking for a cheap (by cheap I mean DIRT CHEAP) but new source of the following: Bearing in mind I'm in the UK so looking for UK
suppliers or any other country that ships to the UK as long as the price isn't astranomical, or as long as it'll arrive in ONE peice!
Distillation Apparatus (1x500mL and 1x1000mL Round Bottom Flask, 1x250mL Round Bottom Flask, condenser, distillation adapter, vacuum adapter,
thermometer adapter)
I want them with Ground Glass Joints, as these are the best. Looking for 19/22 or 24/40. Cheapist one of the two of course!
Thermometer (0°C to ~300°C)
Stand, with 2x10in., flange, 2 ft. of ½in pipe
A Clamp or two.
Hotplate/Stirrer combo.
Magnetic stir bar, teflon coated!
Water Aspirator (or a good vacuum source. But aspirators are cheap)
Boiling Stones, small-ish pref.
Tubing (about 10ft. total (3 meters)
Scale (a three beam analytical balance) Industry standard? What do you suggest?
And a couple of rolls of pH paper.

boiling stones: smash an unglazed flower pot - works perfect.
aspirator: I have a spare custom made all-glass aspirator which cost me about 6 Euro - made by my glassblower, I had to take two....
Sucks like hell, actually the best aspirator I ever owned.
Maybe you can talk me into exchanging it for some CDs from the ftp?

All of my glassware is a strange SCHOTT DURAN hybrid...
I don't like them too much though, they crack too easily due to thermal stress.

i recommend ebay for the hotplate/stirrer. They can be found there (used, ugly looking) for relatively cheap. I bought mine for something like $70.

Thing is unitedglass only deliver in the US, so shipping to the UK would be out. 
Sadly, some of their stuff is pretty decent, not to mention cheap.

Are you sure you can't order from them? I don't see where it tells you this. It says that international orders can't pay through
paypal, so surely they have another payment method? You should try emailing them?
And sciplus, EH? It's amazing how cheap the stuff is there. And they have a lot of items...tubing, evaporating dishes, bottles, filtering
funnels, beakers, graduated cylinders (plastic ones if you're cheap), mortar and pestles....AMAZING.

My Hotplate stirrer cost me 78 quid. mind you, i never realised until it turned up that it ran on 110 volts only and I had to spend a further £30
getting a transformer for it.
Sweet though, it was brand spanking new and works a treat.

Really, try ebay germany. Shipping fees won't be light, but you'll still save money.
There's some company dumping heaps of lab equipment for ridiculous prices right now.

Call me picky, but whenever I do buy something - I like it to be brand new.

Having found some cheap glassware, I brought one of these and don't have a clue what's it's for.
I've taken two pictures of it, one's in this post the second will be in the reply below this one. Sorry for the size of them!
Anyone know any uses for them? Or anything I could "convert" them for?

I'm not sure but it seems one of those condensors used to condense volatile compounds which have a melting point above 150 deg celcius, but I
could be wrong. Could you provide us with a picture of the whole apparatus all in one pic pls 
Btw, if what I'm saying is right the appratatus should be known as an air condensor.

There isn't a "kit". Only this peice. I've added another picture of it from a side angle.
Also note on this one I brought there are some slight cracks, I shall be returning this one for a replacement!

http://www.sciplus.com/ is were I got my basic beakers/graduated cylinders/triple beam balances/mortar and pestel. They however lack good flasks,
condensers, and other things. http://www.thesciencefair.com/ is were I got my flasks, round bottom and erlenmeyer, and a 1 L separatory funnel for $27.99. I also got a huge
ring stand, with a 3" ring, a 5" ring, and a clamp from them for pretty cheap. Unfortunately you will never find "dirt cheap"
ground glass equipment unless you find some sort of non-profit glassware supplier or something. The cheapest it gets is http://www.unitedglasstech.com/ or http://www.elementalscientific.net/ . Elemental Scienctific has a very nice downloadable pdf catalog, and they have the cheapest condensers I
have seen, even cheaper than united glass tech. Elemental also sell chemicals to individuals 21 or over. The only cheap hotplates/stirrers are on
ebay. There are the nice new ones which normally cost $400 and are around $160 on ebay, and there are the old rusty, dillapidated looking ones, which
you could steal for about $15. I would personally go with the old wrecked looking one because it is much cheaper and regardless of the fact that it
doesn't look all nice and flashy it performs the exact same functions heating and stirring. The two best glass suppliers there are are http://www.kimble-kontes.com/ and http://www.chemglass.com/ however they are not cheap, they supply the government and university laboratories around the world.

Eliteforum, I think thats for keaping crud from going through the pump when you vacuum filter things. But Im most likely completely wrong.
