The battery in chapter 2 of the PhD thesis is much more approachable than the one in chapter 3. The title basically explains it all: titanium anode,
iron cathode, sodium perchlorate electrolyte. The most abundant materials I've seen for a modern battery chemistry.

The air stability of the materials, particularly the Fe (II) cathode, may be annoying to work with, but hopefully it can be managed.
