Beckman 50th anniversary DU, UV/Vis Spectrometer

I've got access to this machine and can sell it if the price is right if anyone wants this.

Here's a picture:

It is OLD SCHOOL! It has those 24-pin adapters and no cover (so you have to be creative in making a cover - I used cardboard and it worked.

I don't know the accuracy or anything, but I do know it turns on, has both bulbs, and has a read out on the small screen.

In order for this to be of use you will need to somehow hook it up to a computer (it scans ~100nm-900nm in about 1 minute, but this is adjustable) since it is too fast to make hand calculations.

If anyone is interested let me know... I would seel it via EBAY preferably, but anything else is fine, really.

I sold a raman-IR machine on ebay for 600$, to put it in perspective.

that doesn't put anything into perspective.
I just bought an LKB 4050 Biochrom Ultrospec II on ebay for $68.

IR specs are much more expensive than UV-Vis specs, because of the complexity
of their mechanisms and functionality. they're also a lot heavier, but you already knew that

Yeah I saw the prices on ebay... its not worth 600 dollars.

I'm basically getting it for free so if anyone has any interest make a bid.

how much does that bad boy weigh? looks like a kickass spec
here's mine. $68 bucks. god i love ebay

ITs probably around 20 pounds. The raman spec I moved was over 100.

That one you have is nicer than the one I would have... and wow, actually that is a fucking ridiculous deal to be honest. a UV spec for 68$, mah gawd.

Do you have the set up for digital read outs? software? That would be salivating.

I have a NI USB-6009, with LabView 2011 beta on a netbook, running fusion linux.

there is another beckman DU that came in today... I'll be testing it soon see if it works. Then I'll probably ebay it in 3 weeks.
