DPPP ReSearch, synthesis etc.

Phantom - 13-12-2011 at 13:24

So everybody know DPPP and it is a really interesting stuff. It's nearly impossible to make it but with some experience and research I will try it.

Let's refresh our knowledge about DiPhoronePentaPeroxide for those who never heard about it or just forgot it.

This explosive really famous mostly because it's VoD which is around 9000m/s

Made from the same chemicals like TATP> Acetone, H2O2 and HCl

Theory.. HCl changes Acetone into Phorone (yellow green) and then into Pentachlorophorone which is an oily dark reddish liquid. When H2O2 is added the Cl2 is split away and is replaced by the (O2)5...

The question is: Somebody ever had made or had experience with this stuff?
Any synthesis tips?

I know YouTube is not the right place for synthesis and stuff but I found a video about DPPP. It looks like a load of crap.

But here is pt. 2 which is a little bit more interesting.

Maybe that is really DPPP? Hope he will show us some flame and shock tests.

So let's figure out a good synthesis for this project.

Exactly

The two links was 100 % shit.

1) If DPPP exists it will probably be as sensitive as all peroxides due to the -O-O weak bond.

2) To low density and energy content for the stated 9000 m/s.
Pure H2O2 is in 6000-6500 m/s at 1.450 g/cm3 (20 °C, pure)

The DPPP have been up before and I think everybody tried it out get some TATP.

Use the forum search engine!

Don't get your hopes up. TCAP is what you'll get every time IIRC.

I see no way it can be formed. Even the pentachloride is impossible to form. Maybe dichloride, made by addition of HCl onto the double bonds, but can H2O2 push that chlorine away (as HCl)? I tried this, but I got a deep red resin, no peroxide formed at low temperatures (dry ice bath). In earlier experiments, yellow (phorone-contaminated) TATP formed. I think we should try to make more realistic explosives.

This is my video I made a few months ago.
