Science crushes!

Chordate - 26-3-2012 at 05:44

I currently have a raging "science boner" for David Liu.

This project: http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v472/n7344/full/nature0... was elegant, based on principles that any undergraduated biochemistry student could understand, and yet putting it all together was a stroke of genius, and I am sure half a dozen people are kicking themselves for not figuring it out before. Still, Apparently that experiment took five years to set up and then in two weeks he generated enough data to launch half a dozen careers. Awesome.

Any of you (gender appropriate pronoun)s got a science crush? Share their names and papers if you will.

I did have a longstanding (ooops?) crush on Jimmie Oxley!
I'm over it, though!

Wow. A science boner. Now I can die in peace.

Have to be on Professor Martyn Poliakoff and his great research with green chemistry (and the amazing hair of course):)

I think the OP was more interested in the science of the scientist than in being blinded by the scientist ... :)

But, if she had a poster out and if my wife wouldn't object to same, I'd have a poster of Jeri Ellsworth in my lab. (All those brains, and a beautiful, um, mind to go with them.)

Gearhead_Shem_Tov, I'm aware of the OP's intentions. Some of the scientists in my post pertain to both. For example, the research of Dr. Evenstar on the Atacama desert is quite fascinating and gives me a "science boner". The Atacama is #1 on my list of places I'd love to visit (and collect mineralogical samples from) someday.
