tryptamine carbonate

If_6_was_9 - 2-6-2004 at 10:28

US2943093 gives a method for purifying tryptamine compounds by treatment with CO2 in a solvent to form the carbonate which precipitates from the solution. CO2 is in the air. I wonder if this could cause problems when handling tryptamines. Tryptamine carbonates tend to be insoluble in solvents like alcohol and methylene dichloride. Heating the tryptamine carbonate decomposes it into the tryptamine and CO2.

Why don't you just lock the thread. It seems that nobody sees the patent's significance. Someone who's worked with tryptamines might see it and understand what I'm talking about.

Hint: CO2 is in the air.

Could be usefull for extracting tryptamine from natural source. But which one produce crude (*-X-)tryptamine, whitout adding a di-allyl on the amine?

I must be blind!

Why didn't I see this before?

Great find, many thanks!
