My English Very Poor

Hi

I make dextrinated lead azide
To detonate PETN
200 to 500 mg use my.
I make dextrinated lead azide. Do you have suggestions?

ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) : What are the recommendations for measures?

My measure :

1) an antistatic wrist strap
2) antistatic gloves
3) explosives, dried on glass

What to add?

blasting cap made in this way

Do you think it safe? What are your suggestions?

is the drawing life size? then i see a problem

I think cutting down on the lead azide is more important than preventing ESD, at this point. A better idea for a blasting cap is to have 0.05g lead azide near the fuse, which in turn detonates a base charge of around 0.2 - 0.5g PETN. A straw cut down to size also serves well as a casing.

I've never been able to ignite anything with piezo sparker from a lighter. My new batch of lead azide had crystals that can be seen with naked eye and still that spark cant set off anything. I think once my AP was resistant even to a stun gun. Isn't a metal case and foil around the fuse enough for protecting the stuff in it?

Yeah
is wrapped with aluminum foil
Did you make your dextraned lead azide??

Ral123 - 2-10-2012 at 03:21

I haven't seen dextrin in my life :D And what's with that ugly design. How are you gona make that stuff?? Personally I wouldn't dare warping anything around a device with primary in it because I'd have to hold it with my fingers. And why half a gram??. What do you want to initiate anyway?

How about reducing the danger from static by working in a controlled humidity environment instead? And is your personal grounding system connected to ground directly, or through a LARGE resistor, bleeding off charge slowly rather than all at once...

Never seen Lead azide detonated accidentally by static. But in an industrial setting with many thousands of devices, anything that can happen WILL eventually happen- so precautions must be taken.

Silver azide OTOH is devilishly sensitive to static discharge, and I have witnessed accidents with it on low humidity days. Just picking up a small SFX device made with Silver azide while wearing synthetic clothing on a very windy and dry fall day was enough to fire it in a couple of incidents. I will no longer work with this, or Silver acetylide.

( My english is bad sorry :( )
Do you think this formula is it true?
my aim is to make stable lead azide.
reached as a result of my own research this information....
Have something to add?
Does this formula will be stable with the lead azide ?

------ Prosedure 1 -------
Solution 1 :
7Gr Lead Nitrate + 90 Ml Distile Water heat up 60C >> add 675 mg dextrin 18 mg NF Gelatin mixed (brought to pH 5 or 5.5 with sodium hydroxide )
Solution 2 :
2 Gr sodium azide + 70 ml distile water + 60 mg sodium hydroxide heat 60C >>>
Solution 2 Add to Solution 1 . 4ml per minute . After adding Stirred for 2-3 minutes quickly filtered

To pass 60 mesh sieve ( stainless steel sieve )

Note :
stirring rod = Plastic or Wood
gas mask required. (Water and mixed with sodium azide hydrazoic acid, a poisonous gas that consists of Boiling point 37 °C )

------ -------

------ Prosedure 2 -------

Solution A
Lead Nitrat : 10Gr
Distile Water : 150ml
Ph : 5.5 - 5.9
7.5Gr Dextrin

Solution B

Sodium Azide : 2.5 Gr
Distile Water : 135ml
60Mg Sodium Hydroxide
500 Mg carboxymethyl cellulose

Solution A Heat 40 C
Solution B Add to Solution A Slowly ( 4ml per minute )

Which do you think is better? I'm looking for the most stable formula for lead azide

Dont use a paper tube for the det...

Deforms easily, not desirable with a primary inside
Paper or cardboard is a light weight material which absorps a lot of the energy released, too thick casing --> little transfer of energy no detonation of main explosive

What kind of material should be used?

Strong aluminium from an arrow is recommended. I had nice results with TNP, imagine if it was petn.
