Hi all,

can someone please tell me if i make extraction of catechins from green tea in this way - put the leaves in hot water for 10-15 min , after that put the same leaves in ethanol 70% , and after combine the two extraction togther ...
if i evaporate all of the water and the ethanol - will the catechins that were extracted with the water still be in the bowl i made the evaporations??

Yes, along with a whole lot of other things (sugars salts some proteins...)

Proteins ca be seperated by precipitation (for eg with ammonium sulphate and the filtered). Sugars and salts on the other hand are more difficult to seperate. It would require some for of solvent extraction techniques to remove the salt. Then to remove the sugars . . .
