MIT Explosive Page

Well I sort of screwed up. I emailed this guy asking about when he would update his site. Result: It gets taken down. Of course it could just be offline for updates but I highly doubt it.

This is one of the safest sites I found. He takes safety into mind and warns when something is more dangerous. It is a loss, but I guess he didn't want it blemishing his image. So, here is an offline copy I downloaded before it got taken down.

Original Link (no longer works, redirects to his resume now.) http://web.mit.edu/semenko/Public/Military%20Manuals/RogueSc...
The .rar file with all of the data. What is missing (chemical weapons) has been missing since I discovered it. https://www.mediafire.com/?wgdstaq8w5qcr65

Both the files and your MIT boy are useless. The majority of these synthesis are without references and should be regarded as highly unreliable. Learn to search scientific journals and trusted technical report for synthesis and information on energetic materials and detonation science.

They may be unreferenced on the archive, but on Roguesci I believe that he usually provided his sources.

roXefeller - 25-1-2014 at 20:14

Wow you brought down that site. Thats an oops moment. At least you provided a mirror. I used to like his pages a couple years ago. But other sources definitely give better discussion on the syntheses. Like Ledgard, the description is copied from another source, but it always needs much more research in reality. Good reading for college freshmen with whiteboards.

The Megalomania Rogue Science site and mirror is available on torrents.

Getting it might be problematic

This is my copy , combine the three parts with HJsplit , www.hjsplit.org
You Will Need To Open HJsplit and start with the .001 file.

The web archive still hosts two editions of the webpage

Welcome to Science Madness.
That site was going to come down sooner or later.
Don't feel too bad about accelerating the inevitable.

Theoretic - 26-1-2014 at 00:01

no

No-one should give in to the climate of paranoia, or think it's a 'blemish' on them to provide information on energetic materials. Who cares how you look in the eyes of fools? Don't be scared of fools
I don't think you are at fault goldenoranges. If it were me, I would have specifically told him that this information is useful and good to have, but you might have told him this for all I know. Regardless you couldn't have predicted that he would be so skittish all of a sudden. It's allright

My email, exactly is below. I have been browsing around the forums, why did the 10 Fingered Club get taken down? I have heard good things about it, and is there a mirror available of it?

"Hi! I was wondering if you are still active on the site that you host on MIT. I understand if you are too busy, etc, but I was curious if you plan to update it anymore? If you don't, perhaps you would consider a successor? (Not me, I am only a amateur chemist) I just wanted to say that your site has probably saved a couple of peoples lives and lots of fingers. Information like the anarchist cookbook and other anarchist shit sources fail to say how dangerous these chemicals are. Your site went a long ways warning of potential dangers when manufacturing the explosives.
Thanks for your time,

Johnathan"

I read through his bio page and it seems like he has been transformed over his college years from "knowledge is fun" to "I'm smarter than you and now we should limit knowledge to the elite who aren't trying to blow up the world". Either way the site was bound to go down. But as you can see from above, books (or webpages) still get squirreled away during the season of bookburning. It never succeeds completely.

goldenoranges - 26-1-2014 at 13:39

Yeah :) I am one of those people who has a million text files with just random information, be it programming snippets or recipes or whatever.

Just saw your post on reddit. Thanks for posting this.

DubaiAmateurRocketry - 4-2-2014 at 05:41

Has any one tried any synthesis stated on that site that has successfully ??

Trotsky - 5-2-2014 at 10:24

Not positive, but I think that's where I got my first direction on nitrocellulose and Nitrostarch. I wouldn't have tried RDX based on it, though.

Was that on purpose or by accident? Irritating to use a hex editor to find the proper order since the joined output PDF is defective. 1 is 2, 2 is 3, 3 is 1. Rename file extensions 001, 002, 003 in order I just gave. Now the PDF opens and works. Since we both know full well hjsplit does not disrupt splitting order the only conclusion is you manually renamed them out of order after doing the splitting. Obvious looking at file sizes anyway since the last would be the least with the other two equal in size.

Reason? Equally curious is the number of downloads. Right now, 66, 37, 33. Since all are useless without all three why the hell are people downloading varying numbers of each? Between that and the file fixing I had to do to get a working PDF I can only conclude this place really IS Science MADNESS!
