ANNMAL

I have lots of NM, and decent amounts of AN. My question was, would it be better to add the NM while the AN is melted? Or does it have to be crystallized? I am experimenting around with AN NM AL, it seems to be a really stable explosive. I usually purify the AN before I add the NM but I always let it crystallize, then add the NM and store in airtight container until I use it. Just wanted to know if its possible to add both together as a liquid, then pour into the container for it to harden.

Adding nitromethane to molten ammonium nitrate (at ~170 C, depending on purity) sounds like it might be a VERY bad idea. Also, the nitromethane (boiling point 100 C) would just boil off.

Yeah ... NM to molten AN with Al indeed sounds like a very bad idea.
Personally I would just mix the AN and Al as powders and then mix in NM an hour or so before use.

Ok, awesome. Glad I asked, thanks!

As long as i know, the best ratio of ANNMAL is 70:24:6. Does anybody know any other better composition ?

you could try not adding Al then add some H2SO4 to it, videodemolitions i recall having some videos on this make-shift HNO3 NM mixture

you could perhaps make >http://www.sciencemadness.org/talk/viewthread.php?tid=24032<
then to this add NM
i suppose you could end up with a VERY strong secondary, at least a slight bit stronger than simply ANNM
but adding NM to liquid AN is just a bad idea.. energetics have no empathy for your mistakes..
