Dry Reagent Storage Bottles

Does anyone know where I can get some storage bottles for dry reagents, similar to the ones Elemental Scientific sells reagents in? Would Elemental be likely to sell some to me if I asked their customer service or give me their suppliers name?

I have been asking my pharmacist for some empty bulk pill bottles. I have been getting 500 & 750 mL sizes but they are pretty big unless you are buying large quantities of chemicals. Another past favorite was urine sample bottles at the various ultrasound, doctor and midwife appointments when my wife was pregnant. High quality and liquid tight...

I get a lot of my stuff from there. The "Packers" and the "French Square" are my personal dry reagent favorites. They are also quite cheap and do not need to be purchased in bulk. Good half-liter glas storage bottles with phenolic caps are around 1 USD.

Many supermarkets and others will sell plastic and glass bottles with large lids that are pretty suitable for powder shipping. I was surprised to see exactly similar type and manufacturer plastic bottle's at my local market that one official chemical dealer supplies its' powder chemicals.

I have bought nice bottles from "scuddlebutt3" on eBay in packs of 25 for pretty cheap. They also sell lots of dyes and chemicals, I even bought a 10ml ampoule of 5% osmium tetroxide solution from them before.

I'll second the recommendation of specialty bottle. The amber glass packers are what I buy for storing powders; nice large openings allow for easy dispensing. I also buy their 2 dram vials for displaying samples for my element collection. Fast processing and no minimum order quantity!

I get all my vials at elemental scientific, I use the 3 dram for my element collection. A set of 12 costs only $3.18, quite a bit cheaper than specialty bottle. Slooow processing and $25.00 minimum order.

I like the lids a lot to, it makes a complete seal, and can tolerated chlorine for 3 months, and likely will indefinitely.

I have loads of glass bottles, glass and plastic vials, plastic bottles, tubes and vials, etc available. Do you have a particular size, shape, volume in mind? I even have some sample containers like that are used for water and urine samples, as well as larger ones. I have 1, 2, 4, and 6 dram vials, plus larger ones, in quantities from 12-100's. Just let me know what you are looking for.

Thanks for all of the ideas. Praxichys thanks for the "packers", that gave me a keyword to search for on Amazon which turned up LabStock brand bottles for a dollar a piece with FREE shipping, I just can't merit paying $25.00 for shipping glass.

I finally got around to ordering from Specialty Bottle and the order came in yesterday. 100-250cc packers and three dozen 60cc packers, the box was huge. Customer service was friendly and helpful and shipping times were very quick, ordered on Monday. Nothing was broken in shipping but costs were a little high, though that might have something to do with the huge 50lb box

Another good one is Freund Container. Last week I received 24 of their 16oz straight-sided jars and 12 of the 32oz variety, all for around $2 per jar.

These have been excellent to store chemicals in. They are also available with Teflon caps if you want to pay $7 each.

Anyone know where to get similar to caps and bottles like this? They are made by "Fischer" but i can not find it on their website. The bottles have a really nice look to them

These are tamper sealed bottles, I believe you need a special machine to seal them, usually all the big chem companies ship in those bottles. Sigma, Aesar, all those guys, you could call and ask...

The anti-tamper ring just needs the lid to be screwed on tight.
No special tools required.
When you unscrew it, the ring detaches from the cap, so you can tell it's been opened.

Seems they're UN approved etc etc.

Even if they do sell the bottles their minimum purchase amounts are huge.

Just found another source for bottles that's significantly cheaper than specialty bottle. I've only placed one order from them so far, but it all arrived intact and the shipping was a lot cheaper than specialty bottle.(One of my orders cost $40 in shipping) Just another option out there.

By dry reagent bottles, I'm assuming you guys mean anything that didn't used to hold pepsi.. Try scintillation vials, they're pretty chill... Some are better than others, but eh what can you do

It was meant as something to contain reasonable amounts(i.e. 125g-250g) of solid chemicals, rather than Boston Round bottles for storing liquids. It was a poor choice of words on my part.

I have a more limited supply that some sources, but if you want mostly PTFE lined caps, I still have a good mix of vials and bottles, and can make a mix of containers for most uses. And rather than $7 each for PTFE lined, most of the 60 - 250 ml containers I have are $2-3, less in bulk. I have supplied about 6 people here with a medium or large flat rate box of bottles and vials for around $60-80, including postage, each containing 40-80 glass containers. Hard to go too wrong with that. I can customize the package to hold more of any size, type or style. If any of those buyers want to comment, I would appreciate any feedback on the deals I have done.
