Aminoguanidine from Nitroguanidine?

DrChemistRabbit - 6-3-2014 at 07:47

I have an idea of the synthesis of Aminoguanidine.Maybe I can use hydrosulfite or other reducing reagents to reduct the nitro group of the Nitroguanidine. What do you think?

Why do you need Aminoguanidine?

Aminonitroguanidine could be synthesized from nitroguanidine upon hydrazinolysis according to this

Aminoguanidine is a precursor for aminotetrazole. Aminoguanidine can be prepared by reduction of nitroguanidine with zinc dust in acetic acid. More details can be found in this thread.

Aminoguanidine can also be prepared from guanidine and hydrazine aside with diamino- and triamino-guanidine ammonia is evolved. Also some H2N-C(=NH)-NH-NH-C(=NH)-NH2 could be found and HN=C(-NH-NH-)2C=NH and realted hydrazino compounds.
Aminoguanidine will be favourized if hydrazine is in limited amount.
