By ActionScript, I assume you are hoping to make a Flash application.
Well, to be completely honest, you would be better off experimenting with JavaScript or CoffeeScript instead of ActionScript (Flash) as the web is
slowly moving away from Flash based technology as HTML5 (Javascript, WebRTC, etc) is simply more cross platform (i.e. a lot of tablet and mobile
browsers don't support Flash or do not have adequate support for it) and easier to do. Not to mention, less of an inherent security risk to clients
than Flash objects...
