i did a CTH with 10% Pd/C in IPA on some phenylnitroalkane recently, and when i thought the reaction was finished, there was no more smell of IPA but
something like er...well, i've never smelt it before (not amine smell, more like aliphatic hydrocarbons...less sweet though) whats probable,
disopropylether, isopropylformate? also, what does phenylacetone smell like? i'm gonna try and catch it with some bisulfite.
