Hi, ive found a source for CaCl2 in the UK in a most unlikely place.
Pop into your local Woolworths and head for the DIY section. They sell these "de-humidifiers" which are essentially CaCl2 in a box with
holes in. They sell refill packs for these, which are 0.5Kg sealed bags, priced at £1.50 each.
I personally thought this was a good price and have never found it anywhere else in the shops.
What do other people think about the price?

That would be 4.50€ per kilogram, which is a ripoff. I pay 4€ per 5kg.
Furthermore, this isn't exactly a miraculous discovery, now is it?

I think which prices that high as kyro have found one can put CaCO3 in strong HCl (30%, less water) and then boil to evaporate water....the only solid
product in CaCl2 in water, as CO2 go off...

It regenerates just fine.....quickest in the microwave.
Calcium chloride is also used to harden water so pool and spa stores will have it.
