Does anyone here have experience with buying chemicals and labware at local suppliesrs rather than the big mail-order houses. Seems this might be a
bit easier, but I haven't cruised their stock nor interacted face-to-face with one. Seems like it could be an attractive way to buy chemistry, as
long as you know what you're doing with it.

Its good idea to talk with local supplyers. To talk, not to call. Do not ask at once anything special. Of course you should use common sense and not
tell everything that can be misunderstood. Nobody wants to deal with you if he thinks you may harm yourself or others. If you look responsible and
educated ( on labwork and safety ) then some local supplyers may be friendly and may want to help you even if this is not directly their business.

I have an account with the local uni stores - if I want something in a hurry I can just pop in and get it right away rater than waiting for a
delivery. (gets me out of work for an hour as well)
