Sciencemadness Discussion Board

Wierd posts

Recently really weird things have been coming up in the SM discussion board. Whenever I check today's posts, I often see really strange things unrelated to science appear and disappear within several seconds. Some of the posts in question are things like "Brand new Nike Airs for sale" or "Ralph Lauren Polo shirts". This just leaves me confuzzled, because these topics don't belong here at all. Anyone know what the hell is going on?

Spambots.

It's just spam, so don't worry about it :)

The canned spam gods want you to buy nike!

javascript seems the problem. If one Moderator do a quick test: what happens then ?...

chemrox - 20-11-2014 at 01:42

@JAVA Please tell me how that works.
Spambots makes sense and since I wouldn't accept Nike anything as a gift or wear Ralph Lauren for less than 5 figures why are these a**holes hitting us? Polverone could you backtrack and find these jerks and forward a virus to them?

gardul - 20-11-2014 at 02:13

A spambot can be written with java script. But I highly doubt its that. There are a billion variables that could be causing this. Security needs to be upped a bit in the coding and perhaps something rearranged. That is up to the owners though.

It's pretty bad today and the mods are sleeping on the job . . . ?

I just ignore it honestly.
