U2U-spam promotion of "Distorted Confusion Forums"

Polverone - 14-1-2006 at 22:10

Today a new member named jygf registered here and sent the same U2U message to hundreds of members. It contained nothing but a link to the "Distorted Confusion Forums." I have already registered on this forum and asked them to root the spammer out of their midst, after giving his IP address: 194.82.58.162. He's now deleted. But please be aware of the spamming and alert me if you receive similar promotional U2U messages. For all I know, other spammers could be doing the same, but I noticed this one because I got a copy of the U2U and was able to examine his outbox.

I'm sorry you were spammed, it seems a lot of sites were.

Problem is, we don't know who is doing it.

If you never received a formal apology, I would be happy to give one now:

We're sorry for the inconvenience!

Please don't blame the entire site for the stupidity of one member (if they're even a member). We've been a bit peeved over the spam, too.

Thanks for the followup. The complaint I posted on the distorted confusion forums was deleted a few hours after I posted it, so I didn't know if that was because the problem was solved or because the problem was being swept under the rug.

Most likely, a mod deleted it because of the sheer amount of forums leaving complaints. We know we have a problem, and we are trying to take care of it =].
