Nafion/Proton Exchange Membrane electrolysis

I have a 10x10cm square of nafion 117 that I got from FuelCellsEtc a while ago, but so far it has sat in my laboratory doing nothing. I originally got it after reading an article on bacterial fuel cells using H2O2 as a product of bacterial respiration, although I have also been thinking about making a super simple cell that just runs on plain water without an electrolyte (My current understanding is that PEM's make this possible). I may also decide to use it as a hydrogen fuel cell if possible. Does anyone have any ideas regarding what can be accomplished with these membranes or some practical/fun/interesting uses for it?

Also, I got it much cheaper than other PEM vendors, which has me slightly skeptical of its legitimacy and function so I will probably test it some time in the next few weeks to make sure it actually works.
