Could this chem be used to synth up any drugs or usefull chems?

Have you got some CH2ClBr? It could be used as a solvent, I suppose. In organic synthesis, it could be reacted with the right amount of Mg metal to make the Grignard reagent CH2ClMgBr, and this used to introduce the group -CH2Cl into other halogenated compounds, and this could be hydrolysed to -CH2OH. For example, this latter could be done in converting chloro or bromobenzene to benzyl alcohol, which can be oxidized under mild conditions to benzaldehyde, an important intermediate in many syntheses.

Have a few small brass fire extingishers that contain it around 500-800ml worth. They are from the 1950s.
