Acid damage to tools

I thought this was interesting:

Someone at work brought a hammer to show me. Apparently it had fallen into one of our 6 meter deep mixing tanks where a small amount of 49% HF was left in the bottom. The hammer stayed there for 3 days until he found a magnet that he could use to retrieve it. Unfortunately I don't have a "before" picture, but it was a brand new framing hammer and the HF basically turned it into a tack hammer without touching the handle.

And from what are your tanks made from?

The HF tank is steel lined with polypropylene.
