Oxo to Hydroxy (C=O to CH-OH) Reduction

Hi to all...!!!!

I'm trying to get :

Ethyl-4-Bromo-3-Hydroxy butyrate from Ethyl-4-Bromo-3-Oxo-Butyrate.

I tried searching beilstein, orgsyn, etc. but not getting proper process for this. Only one with Sucrose & yeast as per orgsyn was there but is very long & lazy process.....

May I get suggetions from you friends for this C=O to CH-OH reduction.....?

Try "Organic Reaction V2", the Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley Reduction. There is a subsection on alpha-bromo-ketones.

http://www.sciencemadness.org/library/index.html

Get Org Reactions V2, read the chapter; there's a slew of references although only a few for your specific case.

But if you must, or can't figure out how to download, try starting here:

R. M. Kellogg, Comp. Org. Syn. 8, 88-91 (1991)
C. F. de Graauw et al., Synthesis 10, 1007-1017 (1994).

Thanks!
