Gold/silver ore distillations

khourygeo78 - 3-3-2016 at 13:56

Hello,
I would like to know if one was to bring a common ore of silver or gold or even any other metal or semi metal, what are the possible volatile compounds contained in these ores, which will easily distill on a gas flame? (possibly 400 degrees C and less)

Thanks for your time

The free milling (elemental gold) gold bearing quartz in this part of the world, nothing.
You may get sulphides oxidizing in the sulphide bearing ore (iron and iron/arsenic sulphides mostly around here) but you would only get a bit of sulphur dioxide off it and maybe some CO2 from carbonates.

If i have to roast ore I burn it in a wood bonfire for hours so not sure what would happen at 400 degrees.
