Where to find Titanium coated with Platinum Electrode for H2o Ionization

makestuff - 13-3-2016 at 21:10

Where could someone buy Titanium coated with platinum to use as electrodes in diy water ionization setup. Would like to find 2 separate pieces each around 1 to 1.5 inches wide and about 4-5 inches in length. Can be solid or preferably mesh to increase surface area.

Here is a link that shows one way to set this type of product up

Your feedback is appreciated!

I seen products on there like that and it says they are designed to use in Electro-Plating Galvanic baths for Rhodium and Palladium Plating or acid-based Gold Plating solutions. I am not sure if that is safe to use? I am not sure what the piece is made out of that is connected to the mesh? If it is also not titanium coated in platinum it would be unsafe to have it in the water. Also I am not sure if the mesh is coated with palladium if that would be safe though I hear it is similar to platinum.

Is there a official vendor anyone can find instead of rolling the dice with amazon or ebay?

I've used these, they are platinum coated titanium mesh, and yes the tab is titanium. Geesh.

I appreciate your feedback. Have you made a ionizer before or did you use them for a different application? Also you say the tab is titanium but is it also coated with platinum? Reason I ask is because I am not familiar if the products intended use requires the tab to be coated in platinum and it isn't cheap so thought I would double check?

I've used these for catalytic oxidation of KCl to KClO4. The tab has no Platinum on them, just the mesh.

If I got the titanium where could I get it coated in platinum? Who offers that type of service? Any suggestions or where to look?

Are you blowing me off or something? I could use a little help from someone that knows more than me in the form of suggestions or specifics or at least what and how to search for what I am asking.

Try alibaba.com You didn't want my first suggestion so it's up to you to do the searching with your own parameters, not mine.

That kind of work is done cheapest in China like I said.
