While chlorinating para dimethoxy benzene with sulphuryl chloride, the formation of dichloro content is becoming more after about 60% monochloro
formation.
Could any one suggest methods/additives to avoid formation of dichloro and get pure 2-chloro-1,4-dimethoxy benzene without any dimethoxy benzene
residue.

Such problems were the reason for chemists to invent vacuum distillation and distillation colums. So use them.
(WTF is this post doing in Biochemistry?)

yes.by mistake it is posted in Biochemistry. It is nothing to do with Biochemistry.
Distillation of unreacted dimethoxy benzene is tried. It is working well.A commercial set up has been designed also. But I would like to avoid it. and
looking for completing conversion to mono chloro without much dichlro formation and no residual DMB.
