chemicals and elements available

Waffles - 10-10-2006 at 15:59

I have decided to sell some of my chemicals and surplus metals, for the dual purpose of financing my fairly ridiculous element collection and getting them out of my dorm room (roommate always eyes the various amber bottles suspiciously, but never asks heh).

Please U2U me, or contact me through AIM (iamthewaffler) if you wish to be more discreet or don't have a username on ScienceMadness: either way, don't post on this thread. We will work out appropriate shipping arrangements privately…
I only know exact amounts on several of these- most have been used just a little bit -so I will try to be as accurate as possible.

I will be putting more chemicals on here as I pull them out of my closet. I'm not looking to make a fortune here, but this ain't an 'Everything must go!' sale. I know what a reasonable offer is, especially considering much of the stuff on here is NOT available to almost all home chemists. Thanks!
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Picric Acid- 100g (65g solid, 35g slurry in water) Aldrich; top is sealed in wax, unopened.

Phosphorus Pentoxide- 50g Aldrich, unused, bottle sealed inside a pouch under nitrogen.

Sodium Cyanide- 100g Aldrich, unused. In all honesty, this stuff scares me.

Sodium Azide- 25g Sigma, opened but totally unused. I sort of want to keep this, but I really shouldn't.

Chromium(VI)Oxide/CrO3- 100g Aldrich- NOT the nice green pigment stuff, the red corrosive carcinogenic powerful oxidizer stuff. This is what you use to chrome plate things

Barium Oxide, Anhydrous- 1lb, Fisher, opened but only a few grams used

Raney Nickel- used, ?45g, will be shipped under water

200mL Deuterium Oxide (Heavy Water)- *can be portioned off into smaller amounts! I will ship in original container if there are four or less requests for any given amount.

250g Nickel shot- large pieces, 4-7mm diameter spheres

Molybdenum(VI)Oxide- >90g, Aldrich; 6g were used in an experiment out of a 100g container, other than that unused.

Selenium dioxide- 20g Aldrich, sealed.

Potassium Perchlorate- 1lb bottle B&A, still mostly full, some clumps but still dry.

Nickel Peroxide (??)- 35g, chunks.

Silver Oxide- this is in a container where the label has sloughed off, but its a couple ounces at least I think. If anyone is interested, I will weigh it…

4.41g Wilkinson's Catalyst (tris(triphenylphosphine) rhodium chloride)

0.84g Ruthenium(IV) Oxide

1.02g Ruthenium(III) Chloride

1.16g Platinum(IV) Oxide

Waffles - 13-10-2006 at 08:32

Again, if you're interested in any of these, tell me what you'd be willing to pay for them. Most are still available.

More:

Potassium Hydride- 25g, Alfa, sealed under Argon in oil

Silver Carbonate- 25g, Alfa

Waffles - 24-10-2006 at 19:19

Here are new items, as well as things I still have available. Anything in the above posts not in this post is no longer for sale/trade.

If you have questions about shipping or payment, talk to me.
If you are looking for anything in particular, you might also try talking to me. I'll do some sniffing around for you. Couldn't hurt, eh?

Remember, all these are being sold "as is." Make an offer :P.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rhodium Oxide, 1g Strem, unopened

Silver Nitrate- 40g, Fisher, old but still AgNO3 :)

Lanthanum Chloride, ~50g, Alfa, anhydrous, several grams were portioned out, but still virtually full

Potassium Tetrachloropalladate, 2.05g Alfa, unused

Gallium Nitrate, 25g Strem, still sealed though outside of bottle has frightening 'storage frost' on it from being kept with organics ;)

Picric Acid- 100g (65g solid, 35g slurry in water) Aldrich; top is sealed in wax, unopened.

Sodium Azide- 100g & 25g, Fisher & Sigma, opened but totally unused. I sort of want to keep this, but I really shouldn't.

Raney Nickel- used but still functional, >=45g, will be shipped under water

250g Nickel shot- large pieces, 4-7mm diameter spheres

Molybdenum(VI)Oxide- >90g, Aldrich; 6g were used in an experiment out of a 100g container, other than that unused.

Selenium dioxide- 100g & 2x10g Aldrich, sealed.

Potassium Perchlorate- 1lb bottle B&A partly used, some clumps but still dry. I don't know how much is in here, still a hefty amount, but I am not going to weigh it. As such, I don't want more than $10 for this.

Nickel Peroxide (??)- 35g, chunks.

Potassium Hydride- 25g, Alfa, sealed under Argon in oil

I for one enjoy this character's post, although moreso in whimsy or miscellaneous…

Waffles - 30-11-2006 at 06:31

One quick addition:

1g Osmium tetroxide- Alfa, sealed in ampoule.

4 - 30-11-2006 at 21:20

umm..."iamthewaffler", maby you shouldent sell your chems online threw a forum. some might think that the chemist selling these items is not really a chemist. how would one find info that your really a chemist with to many chemicals?

[Edited on 1-12-2006 by 4]

Blind Angel - 1-12-2006 at 06:38

There are no law against selling chemical to particular, only the listed one are illegal to sell, and there are no illegal chemical in what was listed, not even a watched one.

4 - 1-12-2006 at 09:20

hmm...sorry 4 didnt know that. i guess it just seem akward for 4 to see i guess.

Drunkguy - 1-12-2006 at 09:30

The only thing other than chemicals which are clearly listed, is that sending hazardous material by a regular postal service is a civil offense. Im not a lawmaker though so im not in a mood to get legal, but in anycase it is always good logic to ensure that the packaging is appropriate.

In the USA it is also a criminal offense as well if the gov't decides to press charges your fucked.... there is a maximum penalty of like 20 years in prison.

Waffles - 1-12-2006 at 12:07

Your concerns are all appreciated, but unnecessary. Obviously, every chemical has a potential to be harmful or dangerous if stored, shipped, or used the wrong way. It is not only a criminal offense, but it is a federal offense, since postal workers are government employees. If you are interested in a particular reagent, we will make appropriate shipping arrangements.

When lab accidents occur, the blame is not given to Sigma or Fisher. It lies with those whose negligence led to the accident.

I have not and will not NOT sell or trade any listed nor watched chemicals, not that I would have any in the first place. I have enough respect for the inhabitants of this forum that I assume you know what you're getting yourself into if you acquire any of these, so unless you want to discuss or ask questions about your intended use for them, I won't bring it up.

Fleaker - 1-12-2006 at 12:35

He's legitimate and packages accordingly as it should be packaged. Hope this assuages any concerns.

roamingnome - 1-12-2006 at 13:57

Ill waste this space to apologize for my misguided comment about your free world enterprize.

Its sad that the climate of our times is paranoid and that governments are about at the point of witch-hunts. on the news, a fellow had a web based business selling pyrotechnic and other supplies, and was raided and raked through the coals because of selling/traffiking aluminium powder. when drinking a pepsi makes you a suspect its really time to start worrying.

I think I'm going to stop updating this, but if anyone requires any platinum group chemicals (or metals, possibly), feel free to contact me...

Nick F - 28-12-2006 at 05:18

Just a quick post to say that I am another very satisfied customer of iamthewaffler.

Thanks dude!

Ephoton - 30-12-2006 at 18:56

i can feel a strike comming on. so what will you guys buy Pt and Pd for. you can have
as much as you want any anion in reasonable existance. purity of over 98% all
tested on a reduction. can supply full refinery tests if order is large enough.

Fleaker - 30-12-2006 at 22:55

What salts do you have? U2U me, I'm interested.

quicksilver - 1-1-2007 at 07:39

I suppose you all kniow that SkyLighter is doing biz as CHEAP CHEMICALS dot com.....I guess they are really starting to dump their wearhouse of stuff

I actually don't know how long they had been doing this but I suppose it had to do with the CPSC ruling....

[Edited on 1-1-2007 by quicksilver]

UnintentionalChaos - 1-1-2007 at 09:38

I love how they've managed to find every use for each chemical except its obvious pyrotechnics applications.

Waffles - 15-2-2007 at 16:40

HEY KIDS
Lots more platinum-group chemicals for everyone- these will probably be up on ebay if no one U2Us in a week or something.
If the amount isn't listed, just check with me and I can probably supply whatever you need. If you're curious about the particular company it came from, ask away.

Any questions, contact me. This is likely the last of my stock- if you think you might need any of these in the future, get them NOW- I will make you a much better deal than you can get anywhere else, 100% guaranteed.
