Products of basic Gold(III) Nitrate and hydrogen gas

im deeply frustrated by this chemistry problem so ill just cut to it

3H2 + Au(NO3)3 + OH- >>> Au(NO2)3 + 3H2O

that should be right unless it forms nitrogen dioxide gas, dont bases dissociate completely? anyone know the half reactions for this? that'd be great

You're reaction is not balanced as you have a charge of -1 on the left side and 0 on the right side. In addition to having the number of atoms balanced, you also need to balance charge.

It will reduce Au3+ to Au metal.

2Au3+ 3H2 -------> Au + 6H+
