Vogel's Practical Organic Chemisrty 6th edition

Hi all,

I was looking for a first edition copy of this book, and did not find one, and come across a link to a NEW edition coming out this April. It's a week before my birthday so will have to treat myself.

I asked in Waterstones and Blackwells (in the UK) but they don't have it on there system yet.

I had the 4th Edition (hardback) but gave it away and also have the 5th Edition (hardback) at home and a paper copy at work.

Really looking forward to a new edition. It's been 30 years.

This is great if it's true! I still use the 5th edition from time to time.

If only once the information in the vogel would be verified and the data updated, then it becomes an invaluable source of information. Until that any subsequent edition has nothing more to give to a reader.

I always though that Vogel'd book was THE organic practical book.

It is. Yet it's also a collection of not fully verified experiments - author clearly states that he has no idea about sources of some information, because the track was lost.
