DCM inplace of Ether for recovering Benzaldehyde adduct?

LD5050 - 7-2-2017 at 14:32

I prepared a Benzaldehyde adduct with Sodium Bisulfite using this method here: https://erowid.org/archive/rhodium/chemistry/eleusis/bisulfi... To recover the Benzaldehyde it says to use Ether, Toluene, or Benzene.. My question is would it be OK to use DCM instead? I don't see why it wouldn't but I don't want to go ruining all my Benzaldhyde in case for some reason It shouldn't be used.

I used DCM in place of ether in my synthesis of salicylaldehyde here: http://www.sciencemadness.org/talk/viewthread.php?tid=61964#...

See the statement in the Conclusions section.

I try to make this substitution whenever possible. Good luck. ;)
