Process for preparing potassium cyanate from potassium hydroxide and urea

"Bluechip" from another place and time posted the above and it solved the issue for me

so thats that.... reduce if you dare.... carbonate sucks, sodium ions are like a cute girl friend, potassium ions are like a hot girl friend ...

cyanate vs cyanide

He was asking for a cyanide prep wasn't he? You posted cyanate .. very different!

I'm curious too .. let's all google together unless someone wants to look it up...

Yes and then he said "reduce if you dare".

Cyanate to Cyanide by reduction is what he meant. Right?

im sorry i prefer to google by myself....

the cyanate "lay-over" proceeded very predictably from the patent method. I did the molar math and was exspecting 3 grams of formed cyanate and after the reaction it weighed out at 2.8 grams. I'll count my wins when i can...

i havent reduced so i cant speak on that, mix with Carbon and beaucoup heat i would think
