Tell me I'm an idiot

Panache - 4-8-2017 at 00:24

So just composed this very long , very engaging, eloquent, heartfelt u2u.

Sent it and as I had one spelling mistake in the recipients name, it simply prompted me
'The recipient does not exist, fuck you I'm deleting all text you spent hours agonising over because you're obviously an idiot'

Ok it only said the first five words and it implied the rest by its actions (by using the word 'it' I'm not saying the software is sentient)

Does my u2u still exist somewhere?

My guess is NO, your U2U is gone forever.

Some time ago my internet connection was a little erratic,
this caused me to loose a few posts and/or U2Us,
so I started using Notepad to keep a copy of my text whilst writing or editing until confirmed upload,
I know that at least one other member does similar.

Now that my internet connection is reliable I do not have this problem.

I have sometimes retrieved such text by hitting the back button. Or when accidently losing a tab hitting <ctrl><shift>T. But in this case you are probably out of luck.

Rofl,
The message was to you!!

I always coppy my U2U's/post's text prior to posting when it was a big pain in the butt to type it all. I am fairly certain EVERYONE here has lost at least one big post/msg. And since we don't discuss the weather, it's usually complicated, well thought out, specifically worded text... Ouchie. Sooo many times I have composed a few small paragraphs over the course of an hour or more, just to have them lost. Ctrl + C is your friend. Also I'm not sure which ones,.. but I think downthemall, program saved progress on downloads and helped remember field text if fwd/bck button was pushed by accident. Then again I have been using my phone for so long now, not even sure if that's a viable PC program any more. But some add-ons will aid you there.

Someone had a similar problem in another fourm. They recommended this, if you're using google chrome. If not, i'm sure something similar exists for some of the other major browsers, and I remember my school having something similar installed on their computers for firefox.

If you don't trust the random link, just search "Lazarus Form Recovery".
Hope this helps... I know the feeling.

Lazarus sounds interesting but, last updated Oct 2014...would be nice to find something newer perhaps. Version 3.0.1 was Dec 2010.

It hasn't been updated because it doesn't need updating. The only websites that this is a problem for, run ancient software like... well, XMB.
