How to make Cats Glow in the Dark

Vmedvil - 6-9-2017 at 12:22

Before reading this I suggest you learn, How to Make a HIV Vector .

This time you need to use the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus , F.I.V.

The Genome can be found F.I.V. Genome NBCI

Next, you find the gene for Bio-Luminescence, you can choose one of three colors Red,Green, or Blue. This will be green because this gene is from the Japanese firefly.

Green Bio-luminesence Protein Japanese Firefly

Now we want to make the code for this Gene with a LTR 5' Primer on the End and LTR 3' on the Beginning using Viral Gene Synthesis .

Then Use the F.I.V. Virus's ENV gene long with Gag-Pol gene, this will be the machinery we use to transfer the Bio-Luminescence Gene

Put the genes into T-Cells to make a Packing Transfer Plasmid.

Transfect the Set of cells in the embryo or other cells that you want to glow in the dark green, which means either add it to the blood of the mother or directly to the cells.

When that Mother cat gives birth her kittens will glow in the dark just like a Japanese Firefly having this gene added to the kittens.

Japanese fireflies are the souls of warriors who died in battle.

You start messing around with gene splicing them into cats and you'll end up with cats with the souls of dead Japanese warriors.

That's all we'd need: A bunch of glowing Samurai cats terrorizing the populace and then committing seppuku when their owners scold them.

It would be safer to use fluorescent jellyfish. That's what the South Koreans did, probably because they're aware of the hazards of having Japanese warriors around.

It'd probably be better if you spliced DNA from an elephant and a pot belied pig to get cute little dwarf elephants.

DeaconicAcid's post below has made me reconsider my post.
We would all benefit from more pizza in this world, even if some of it does have a little cat hair on it.

(employees of this pizzeria are required to wash their paws after using the litter box)

Giving cats AIDS just to make them glow doesn't seem very nice...

Vmedvil - 6-9-2017 at 15:40

It won't die from AIDS the F.I.V. virions can not reproduce without the ENV Plasmid which is missing from the genome that is transferred that has LTR 3' and 5' around them. They can not replicate outside the Packaging Cell.

As described, this plan would not work.

Firefly luciferase does not produce light on its own. It needs luciferin as a substrate to oxidize, so for light production, additional enzymes are needed to produce the luciferin. The transgenic cat would also have to express those enzymes.

But samurai cats will make pizza!
