Sciencemadness Discussion Board

flour and TATP ( yeah sure )

I am not a moderator and not the killjoy of anyone's fun.
This is the least disruptive way to start another discussion unrelated to the
original thread. Start a new thread and place a link there back to the matter
you're commenting on to maintain continuity then post the link to your new
thread instead of the unrelated commentary. This maintains the original thread
free of off topic clutter.

If you mix strong H2O2 with flour you will almost immediately have a fire. It may
take as long as two minutes and you better be standing back if you don't want
to lose your eyebrows. If all you want is an incendiary there are far cheaper and
over the counter materials that do the very same thing.

I am aware that some members of this forum , fancy they titillate intellectually
challenged would be anarchists with leading suggestions to bogus field improvised
formulations. This socratic irony is hackneyed and wistful. The purchasers of the
1500 pounds of 35 % peroxide certainly had a plan. I do not imagine a scenario
where this was bought with the intent of figuring out how it can be used later,
so that subsequently they realize OOPS ! we bought the wrong strength. Can you
blend a detonable mixture with this ? Jack Kerouack said it best " I don't know,
I don't care, and it doesn't make any difference! ". The most salient point I see
here is their complete detachment from what is obvious to anyone else. Given
that the producers of peroxide are very few indeed and their customer base is
also not large , that their singular order for that much quantity would not place
them under surveillance before the shipment from Degussa was even made.

Please walk me through this with an example because I think this is a damned good idea.

What is the peroxide issue?

If I bring a cup of flower to work and wet it with 30% H2O2 will it light up?

1. You first refrain from posting commentary unrelated to a thread and
2. Instead start a new thread in an appropriate sub forum then
3. Copy that url and post that alone instead at the original thread, item 1 above.
4. Now copy this second post url, and edit your first post placing it there to
reference the thread of item 1 above.

Tedious perhaps, but it allows beginning sidebar discussions without disrupting
the point of the original technical discussion.
