I was able to synthesize NAC amide going from NAC to the ethyl ester and then using NH4OH to the amide. The synth lit I was following was accurate up
to the recrystallization info. They said to recrystallize from hot ethanol.
The dry NAC amide was not very soluble in hot ethanol at all and the little that did dissolve didn't produce practically any product when cooled.
I'm thinking of dissolving in water/methanol and then adding ethyl acetate.
Any suggestions?
